bits of my weekend

this past weekend was jammed packed with family, general conference and fun!

friday: katherine and i road-tripped it down to st. george to watch my daddy and my uncles run the st. george marathon.  we ate about forty dum-dums, took only one bathroom break, and didn't get a single ticket!  yay!

saturday: woke up from sleeping on a tiny couch- yes, my back is killing me. then, we went over to the finish line to see the band of brothers cross the line.  then, we "rushed" back home [rushing with people who just ran 26.2 miles as well as your grandparents is kinda hard] and we watched the last speaker of the morning session.  during the two hour break, katherine and i dyed my hair.  we then played and talked with family.  we watched the afternoon session.  and then, my grammy took katherine and i shopping with my aunt shelia.  then, all 21 of our group went to dinner.

the new hair color.  what do you guys think?
sunday: woke up again, after being curled up all night on a couch, watched the morning session of conference and took off for home.  it started raining our drive home which meant the remaining heat of summer is going away. yay! finally!  when i got back to provo, i bid my father farewell-- i won't being seeing him again until christmas.  it was jen's b-day, so katie and i watched her open her presents, then we ate cupcakes, decorated our apt for halloween, and then partied it up with some friends.  we played "battle of the sexes"- yeah, the girls won.  [say what!] yeah, i know what the "green monster is." be proud.

so, it was a fantastic weekend... but i could really use a good back massage.

balboa I

my family has been vacationing on balboa island forever!  seriously.  it's a huge tradition for my family.

since the ocean was cold for the first few days, my family spent those days laying out by the pool.  we kept busy though, mostly with chicken fights.  but it was still fun.

i just got back from a week long vacation in california.  my family goes every year- and by family i mean all of my dad's side, including his cousins.  it's a party of ostlers and boyers.  i'll do a bigger post later, when i have more time, but for now, here's a little somethin' to intrigue you.

camping, manti style

so, this weekend a group from my ward went down to manti for the annual manti pageant.  it was a good experience despite anti-mormon protesters and creepy narrator voices. a small group from our ward had decided that we would go camping after the pageant, so as soon as it ended we went about that.... sort of.  the pageant ended pretty close to midnight.  but we didn't immediately go to find a campsite; first we went to mcdonalds.  and, then we went to find a camp location.  by this time it was past one in the morning.  we were all a little sleepy.  so, we decided to pitch our tent in the manti city park, along with the dozens of others.  after some debate we found a spot that was good enough, and we decided that we would sleep out under the stars.  it was lovely.
the next day, we drove into fairview and went on a very short nature walk.  then, we went to a pool (that cost 4 bucks!) and returned to provo just in time to see america get eliminated from the world cup.  but despite it's hiccups, it was a great weekend.

the most EPIC roadtrip of all time III

once we got up to idaho, the rest of the gang had some delicious burgers made for us, waiting.  after dinner we went bowling.  the next day we went hiking and attempted to go to the hot springs- but they weren't hot yet, so we just went hot tubing instead.
