somedays..

i just feel hot.  today is one of those days.  i don't normally do this, but i decided to take a picture of myself in my elongating mirror- just to emphasize how gorgeous i feel. here's my look, and here are some equally beautiful sunflowers that ahlin brought me last week.

rediscovery

so, i just rediscovered ingrid michaelson.  can i just say that i love her?  she's amazing.  i love her songs: lyrics, melodies, everything.

bridal showers and wedding receptions

my roommate and friend, leah, got married a few weeks ago, and after her honeymoon, they had another reception for those who couldn't make it down to arizona for the first one.  it was such a lovely party- s'mores, candles in bags, a beautiful back drop, and of course them- both beaming.

i know it's summer. blah, blah, blah.  but i can't wait for september.  cause, come september, it will be the beginning of the best season known to man: fall, or autumn if you want to sound really cool.

lately...

i've been listening to a lot of australian singer/song writer lisa mitchell.  she is just so darling and fun.  i want to be her friend. 

this video of her doing a cover of the killer's "romeo and juliet"  is so lovely.  plus, i love the room she's in.  i, too, want my house filled with portraits in oil.

the cosmos

the other day, i was leafing through my friend's book on the cosmos.  it was incredible.  i really like stars, and planets and out of world objects.  just look at that image.  isn't it amazing!  to think that we are literally specks in vasts of other specks and darkness.  it really makes me feel humble and little.  but in a beautiful sort of way.

yum

i am really liking these images by erwin olaf.  "yum"  might not be the best way to describe them.  the collection is called "grief."  i really like it.  i think the images have a simplicity.  i love the lighting and the composition of the shots.  i also really like the story told in each shot.  like in the first one, there is a definite narrative.

i spotted these images here.  i looked at more of his work here.  i quite like him, espcially his rain, hope, and seperation.  but be careful if you chose to browse the rest of his collections.  they do contain nudity.

if anyone wants or needs a chill musician, this is the guy.  he has a hauntingly beautiful voice and his music is just as haunting and just as beautiful.
