Slow Down
has anyone else noticed that kids these days grow up SO quickly? it has to be all of the TV and films that are out. in my day, there were no bratz, or hannah montana. the only TV that i watched was Mr. Roger's Neighborhood or the occasional Barney and Sesame Street. i think that really affected my upbringing, positively.
i hate to speak against the disney playlist, but watching loads of TV does NOT encourage creativity or imagination. (don't get me wrong, i love tv, and i loved it as a kid) i just think that there is an excess of tv watching nowadays. i know with the children that i've babysat for, that there is a big difference in personality between the kids that have an unlimited tv verses the children with limited tv. in my experience the kids with more than an hour of tv a day are much more bratty than those with less tv. that's just an observation.
another observation that i had was that children with less than an hour of tv a day showed more imagination with their playing. they had a much more broad sphere of creativity. they weren't narrowed down to what happened on disney or nickelodeon. that's just another observation.
based on these two observations, i think i'll only let my kids watch an hour of tv a day...
here is me. aged... i don't know.

Rant of the day
brought to you by me.
1: my room is FREEZING! I'm all wrapped up. (I have TWO hoodies on.)
2: i hate that i lost my wallet/ someone stole it
3: i don't know how i feel about the weddings i keep seeing on these blogs i read. at first i loved the styled shot look, but now, i don't know. i'll add links to examples of weddings i like and weddings i don't like.
3a: the main things i look for: being able to see the bride and grooms faces. the bride and groom looking HAPPY (i hate it when they try to be all edgy. no. be happy. it's your wedding.) use of cliches. some couples pull it off. some don't.
3b: weddings i like:
jana and billy: i like how they used cliches, but still looked happy. i love the second to last shot.
stephanie and dave: they look so happy.
lisa and derren: again, they look SO happy.
3c: weddings i don't really like:
callie's bridals: i don't like ANYTHING about this. sorry.
breauna and ted: i love her dress. lovely. don't like the shoot. (or her name)
bpou and ken: too much eye makeup. great sunset. SMILE!
4: i think engagement shoots should have more artistic license, but keep it classy and clean. (aka. enough with the PDA shoots. yuck.)
what do you guys think?

Caution: MANY Pictures
Salon du Chocolat.
Seriously the best 12 euros ever spent. Billions of free samples of the most delicious chocolates in the world. Plus a fashion show with dresses made with chocolate (very project runway-esque. Except the models weren't the best.) I also saw Pierre Hermes, the genius pastry chef.
Enjoy the pictures. (I'll try to get some up on facebook or flickr. I took a lot.)

Oh, history.
I just saw this clip and it made me think of this.
History, find another hobby and STOP repeating yourself.
(Also, I'm not a huge fan of Glenn Back; take a chill pill, buddy. No Obama ain't perfect, but he's no devious Lenin either.)

Joyeux Annivaisaire!
Translation: Happy Birthday.
I know I've posted a lot today, but this one I have to post. Today is the birthday of one of my best friends (possibly the best) in the whole wide world! I love this girl so much. I don't think you understand me... this girl makes me happy. Everything she does is perfect, or near to it. I am so happy we are friends. I'm sad that I won't be able to be with her to celebrate her turning 20! She's no longer a teenager. Wow.
Nora: I just want you to know that I love you like a sister. Honestly, sometimes I think of you as a sister. You're amazing.
XOXOX
Consciously Naive
That's my one of favorite lines from I Capture the Castle (the film). Sometimes I feel that way. Tonight, I watched this film and I realized, I have NO clue what love is...
Is love one of those mysteries of life? I mean what is love? How can you tell love from other levels of affection? Can you just tell?
These are the questions that I, as a consciously naive teen, am pondering tonight.
