New Favorite Pixar... or close to it.

Last night I had the opportunity to see Wall-e. I absolutely loved it. Everything about it was charming, memorable, and eye opening. My brother thought that the themes were to "hippie." He thought it spoke out too loudly against capitalism, but as you can see on my books list, speaking against capitalism never really bothered me. I also thought it only spoke up against the extreme of consumerism and being fat and lazy. It was just showing an extreme example of materialism: lots of waste, robots fulfilling our every need, hover chairs so you never have to walk, computer screens right in front of your eyes so you don't look around, and shake drinks that contain the characteristics of real food. We can already see some of the world turning to elements of what it spoke up against, so I think it is a semi-accurate description of humans.

The characters were so unique for being robots. Each robot had a personality, but still remained so robotic. Wall-e by far is my favorite character of Pixar's. He was so wonderful. Everything about him made me want to giggle. His warm spirit affected the other robots and many of the humans, if not all. He taught one robot how to wave; he encouraged one robot to jump of his assigned trail to clean up Wall-e's mess around the ship. He was so child-like, but at the same time he was so mature. He got the things that the people on the ship didn't get.

I'm not the only person who liked it. Rotten tomatoes gave it a 96%.

I am dying to see the movie. I hope I like it!! My favorite Pixar will always be Monsters Inc.
Niko was named by his previous owner. I got him at 2 years old and while I didn't love the name, it fit him and I thought a name change might be too confusing. He is a cutie!

oh, i loved it too. that scene with the fire extinguisher--sooo lovely!

i think it's amazing how little dialogue they used, and, like you said, how very engaging they made the robots.

also, john's mom is a hippie. and so's his face.
