The Dark Knight

Last night I had the wonderful opportunity to watch "Batman: the Dark Knight." I was so excited to see it because the trailers looked amazing. I was a little disappointed though. The acting was good, the plot line was good, the directing, the cinematography, everything, but, for me, it was too dark.
Joker was a villain driven by social experiment. He wanted to prove that deep down everyone only cared about themselves, and would do anything to save their own skin. He often would say, "Kill this person, or this really bad thing will happen." He was also one of the darkest villains I have ever seen. He was fine killing people and talking about it so nonchalantly. I had to shut my eyes at one part.
Another problem with the movie was the girlfriend, Rachel. She makes no sense. If you recall from the last movie, she told Bruce that she couldn't date him because he wore a mask or something. That didn't make sense to me. Then, in this movies, she takes it to the next level by saying, "You will never get be able to get rid of Batman." Or something like that which made no sense to me.
All in all though, it was a really good movie, and I might want to buy it. However, I wouldn't take anyone under 13 to it. It was that dark.

Leslie, the girl

Besides being in Utah and being with family, not much is happening, so I copied this from my sister Ruth's blog. Here we go.

Attached or single? Single.
Best friend? Nora Kerr. That's not her real name, and she hates it when I call her that.
Cake or pie? Cake. I rarely eat pie.
Day of choice? Friday. It's fun to look forward to, and making plans on that day makes it so wonderful.
Essential item? Blistex Total Moisture Chap Stick, or my iPod. Yes, I can't live without lip moisture or music.
Favorite color? Changes from day to day, but today it's blue.
Gummy bears or gummy worms? Gummy bears, I can eat a million.
Hometown? Lyme, New Hampshire. It's a picturesque town, in a picturesque state.
Indulgences? Watching DVDs in bed on my personal DVD player.... I get to watch TV shows on DVD like 24 or Gilmore Girls and enjoy old favorites like Two Weeks Notice, Breakfast at Tiffanys and Princess Bride... It just helps me feel so cozy and calm..sigh
January or July? Neither. I hate winter and summer. Give me fall or spring.
Kids? Not for a while. I'm barely in college.
Life is incomplete without? Sunshine, love, music, family, friends, and art. It's a long list, but true.
Marriage date? Fall or spring.
Number of siblings? 2 brothers 5 sisters and 2 brother-in-laws.
Oranges or apples? Both are so good. Apples are yummy, but orange juice (especially Simply Orange) is just so yummy.
Phobias? Heights, creaking doors, and unfinished parts of basements.
Quote? "Be the change you wish to see in the world." -Ghandi
Reason to smile? I'm moving to London.
Something new? I got a haircut a few months ago. See Changes.
Unknown fact about me? Although I took six levels of French, I still can't speak it very well. Bummer.
Vegetarian or animal oppressor? I believe in good treatment of animals, but I love meat. I try to eat the organic form of meat (no hormones, fed in open spaces, and not mistreated)
Worst habit? I pick off my nail polish.
Your favorite food? Fruit, bread, cheese, and sweets!
Zoo animal? Giraffe.

Where Did the World Go Wrong?

Alright, so the Twilight series is kinda popular right now, have you noticed? Every girl from whatever age loves these books, read, or wanted to read them. Their popularity causes me to wonder if their popularity is legitimate. My verdict: there is no reason for it to be as good as it is.
Bella is way too emotional, needy, weak, and annoying to be a good heroine or role-model. No girl should strive to be her.
Edward is the epitome of stalker. He reads others minds to find out where she is (because he can't read hers). He sneaks into her room at night and watches her ALL night. Girls tell me he's perfect, but if I knew him, I would not like him at all. In fact, I'd probably think he was a creeper.
Their relationship developed way too fast and unbelievably. One second she's in love with him, but thinks he hates her, and the next they're smooching after every sentence. Most of the time, they're hugging, she's laying on his chest, or something grossly physical like that. She's complaining how she can't live without him and wants to be with him forever because nothing else matters, and he's being all protective in a rude, annoying way. He gives girls unrealistic hopes of boys. Think of how many boyfriends got dumped because their girlfriends got mad that they didn't sneak into their window or say they were their brand of heroine. (Oh, that lines makes me gag!)
Jacob is just a jerk.
Alice is a no-it-all, and I'd hate her if I knew her.
The writing of the story is horrible. The plot is weak, no wonder why she had to add in so much smooching: it serves as a space filler. I have no idea how it's so addicting or popular. The storytelling is fine, I guess, but I didn't think it was the best thing I've ever read.
I'm selling my Twilight series, and I concluded it was the worst 70 bucks I ever spent.

New Favorite Pixar... or close to it.

Last night I had the opportunity to see Wall-e. I absolutely loved it. Everything about it was charming, memorable, and eye opening. My brother thought that the themes were to "hippie." He thought it spoke out too loudly against capitalism, but as you can see on my books list, speaking against capitalism never really bothered me. I also thought it only spoke up against the extreme of consumerism and being fat and lazy. It was just showing an extreme example of materialism: lots of waste, robots fulfilling our every need, hover chairs so you never have to walk, computer screens right in front of your eyes so you don't look around, and shake drinks that contain the characteristics of real food. We can already see some of the world turning to elements of what it spoke up against, so I think it is a semi-accurate description of humans.

The characters were so unique for being robots. Each robot had a personality, but still remained so robotic. Wall-e by far is my favorite character of Pixar's. He was so wonderful. Everything about him made me want to giggle. His warm spirit affected the other robots and many of the humans, if not all. He taught one robot how to wave; he encouraged one robot to jump of his assigned trail to clean up Wall-e's mess around the ship. He was so child-like, but at the same time he was so mature. He got the things that the people on the ship didn't get.

I'm not the only person who liked it. Rotten tomatoes gave it a 96%.
